Fly the Airbus A380 - Newest Release from Abacus

Although it's not scheduled to make its first test flight until later this year, the Airbus Consortium's upcoming Airbus A380 has garnered a tremendous amount of worldwide attention. Here's a monster aircraft with a two-deck fuselage. It's so large that airports will have to make major modifications to accommodate its mammouth footprint.

Airbus' current schedule suggests that the A380 will be available for commercial use by 2006. When certified, the huge plane will transport 550 passengers to destinations up to 8000 miles away. Apparently many prominent international airlines are counting on the A380 to be an economical way to serve their customers. Accordingly, Airbus has more than 150 firm orders for their newest jumbo jet.

For those Flight Simulator pilots who'd like to jump into the cockpit of an A380 now, we have developed a new add-on Fly the Airbus A380. Our newest add-on is available now by download and the CD-ROM version will be available about April 22nd.

Aerosoft Seahawk and Boxer

An exiting combination of the venerable Seahawk helicopter (in the US Navy version and the export version) and the USS Boxer, the WASP class amphibious support ship. The Seahawk is a specially-equipped, naval derivative of the renowned H-60 BLACK HAWK. It is used as a platform for the Light Airborne Multi-Purpose Subsytem (LAMPS) Mark III mission, and has earned its reputation as an excellent fully integrated air/ship weapons platform. But it also serves as a VIP transport, ship to shore transport (VERTREP), Search and Rescue (SAR) and ambulance (Medivac) platform. Highly versatile and far more stable then the Blackhawk it is a reliable workhorse of the US navy and coast guard.

The USS Boxer is capable of landing 2000 marines and providing them with all the air support and provisions they need for several days. A self supporting army capable of invading any coastal country but also a very powerful humanitarian force as is recently shown in South East Asia in the Tsunami relief efforts. The LHD ships are built to deliver stores to coastal regions without any infrastructure so they are perfect for delivering aid to a community that is devastated. The large supplies, excellent medical facilities, organisation and communications make the USS Boxer a floating city that can inflict serious damage and repair serious damage. The ship in FS has detailed lighting for night operations and will be available at 10 locations worldwide. The level of detail of the ship is such as not seen before. From the animated radars, to the forklift trucks and battery carts on deck, it's all there. The USS Boxers gives you ten highly exiting floating airports all over the world!

As always, FS Meteo is the first to provide those new weather functions. FS Meteo will now send each weather stations to FS2004, this way you can have a thunder storms at your left, rain at your right and a clear sky far ahead, that's the way to go!

Airbus A380 - from the web's only "fly before you buy" site

The Airbus A380 made its first public appearance in mid-January and is scheduled to make its first test flight this Spring. This exciting aircraft has received tremendous attention and for good reason. The A380-800 seats up to 550 passengers and transports them up to 8000 miles. Due to the enormous size and weight of the A380, the Airbus Consortium is working with major airports to modify their runways, taxiways and loading gates to handle its two story passenger compartment.

Already, thirteen international carriers have placed firm orders for 135 of the new aircraft. The first A380 is slated to launch in 2006. Among the intial carriers are Lufthansa, China Southern Airlines, Thai Airways, Etihad Airways, Qantas, Singapore Air, Federal Express, UPS and others.

Noted aircraft designer Tolga Piskin has been very busy designing his new A380 for us for Flight Simulator. His model is completed and available now for would-be A380 pilots to fly. Graphic designer Ed Knapp, has painted the A380 in fine detail in the "house-colors", the Lufthansa Airlines livery and the Singapore Airlines livery.

June 14, 2004 another tremendous night of flying in Albuquerque, Northern California, and Nevada brought together a great group of aviators for the fifth VFR challenge organized by ZAB - Steve.
