HOW TO RESET YOUR CABLE OR DSL CONNECTION
Online
racing is more than just flying a straight line and having
the best fuel setting.
It's about having a good computer connection as well.
When you are connected to the PROPS Sessions you are responsible
for every connection in the session. What that means is that each
machine
is connecting
to your machine and you are in turn connecting to theirs. This
is the basis of Peer to Peer technology which is what Microsoft Flight
Simulator
uses as their connection platform. When you get those messages
that say "the server has removed you from the game" what
Microsoft should have said is that your connection was unable to
maintain a
connection with every other machine in the game. This may come
as a shock, but
it's
the God's honest truth. Hopefully that small insight will help
bring you closer to an understanding about your machines performance
and
the performance
of your Internet Service Provider.
Please
follow these steps to get your machine racing at its peek
performance.
- We
recommend printing this page or bookmarking it before you continue.
- Reset
your connection to your ISP. Power down the following pieces of equipment if you own them.
1. Your Cable Modem (Do it now)
- 2. Your
Router or Hub (Do it now)
- Close
this page (don't forget to bookmark first) and shut your machine
down.
**Read below before completing this step.
- Wait 5 minutes before plugging anything back in or rebooting your
machine.
- 3. Power
down your machine and follow the procedure below when restoring
power back to your equipment.
- 4. Turn your cable modem or DSL / cable modem on first. Allow it
to sync back to your provider, usually you'll
have a solid signal or connection light when that is complete.
If not wait 1 minute and then proceed.
- 5. Turn your router or hub back on.
- 6. Turn your machine back on.
Please
make sure you followed that procedure exactly. If you don't own
certain pieces of equipment (i.e. you don't own a router
or hub) skip that step and move on. Soft resets like this one should
happen before every race. It doesn't hurt your equipment, and
honestly it helps
clear the stored data in your modem and your modem will run more efficiently.

Now that you're back to this page after the soft
