Before you join as a new racer, here's some information about what
will be involved in preparing for your first race.
To start with, please install all of the necessary files. PROPS uses
particular aircraft, skins and scenery -- all of which must be installed
before you can start racing. Installation is pretty painless. Check
out the Setup page on the PROPS website for information about what
files to install, where to find them and what settings to use.
Also, be sure to read the Pilot Manifesto found on the Rules page.
This has a lot of information about how air races are run here at PROPS.
PROPS is always evolving and we've tweaked some of our procedures
to ensure races are run smoothly. In order to help with all this, we
hold race orientation practices in-between our racing seasons. Please
try to attend so we can go over some procedures, try some air starts
and practice races and make sure that all of your files are installed
and working so that you can enjoy the air racing experience to its
fullest.
Additionally, we will need to know what aircraft you intend to fly.
The number of available skins for each aircraft can be found on the Roster page. Please have a look at all the available skins in each racing class
and choose one that will be your aircraft for the season. Be sure you've
downloaded all of the Update Installers from the PROPS site Download page.
Email your top 3 choices to the PROPS team and we'll build the roster
page. Skins will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis so
get your choices in early.
Finally, and most importantly, we're here to help everyone get up
and running as painlessly as possible. If you're ever confused about
something, feel free to email either Gary or Tony with a question or
post a message on the PROPS Message Board. Our files are being updated
as we grow so be sure to check the website often for new information.
